Contact Lenses

Schedule a contact lens exam and enjoy the freedom of life without glasses.

Why schedule a contact lens exam?

Many people prefer contacts for clear vision without frames. In addition to a routine eye exam, your doctor will perform measurements and a fitting to determine which lenses are healthiest and most comfortable for your eyes. After the exam, we’ll recommend options from a broad selection of lenses.

Types of contact lenses

Contacts rest on the tear film over the cornea and come in different materials. The two major categories are hard (rigid gas-permeable) and soft lenses.

RGP lenses keep their shape and allow oxygen to pass through to the cornea. They can deliver crisp vision and are durable, though they usually require an adaptation period.

Soft lenses are popular for comfort and come in many replacement schedules and designs:

  • Daily wear / daily disposable β€” Worn during the day and removed at night. Disposables are replaced each day; others may be replaced weekly, every two weeks, or monthly.
  • Extended wear β€” Approved for overnight wear but should still be removed and cleaned regularly. These lenses carry a higher risk of infection and are prescribed less often.
  • Toric β€” Designed for astigmatism; available in daily or extended wear. Typically cost more and may not correct as sharply as RGPs.
  • Colored (tinted) β€” Vision-correcting lenses available with cosmetic tints.

For age-related near-focus changes (usually after 40), options include multifocal contacts and monovision strategies. Your provider will help decide which approach fits your visual needs.

These lenses are non-prescription for vision and are used to protect the corneal surface and improve comfort after injury or certain procedures. They are fitted and managed by your doctor.
